Exhibition: “Jack into the Noösphere” of Chiba City Festival of Arts

Bio Sculpture (Scene of a Future Portable Lab), 2021

Bio Sculpture is an art project by Keio University SFC Tanaka Hiroya Laboratory and METACITY, with the theme of exploring "Technology for Multi-species" in the era known as the "Pyrocene," or the age of fire.
The project aims to plasticize the relationship between humans and nature by sharing the technologies and social systems developed by humans with nature, by opening the technologies and social systems humans have developed to nature for restoring and nurturing ecosystems. This project is strongly influenced by the Australian forest fires of 2019, which are estimated to have claimed more than one billion lives. Bio Sculpture is heavily influenced by the devastating Australian forest fires of 2019, which are estimated to have taken the lives of over one billion creatures.
This work was produced for the "Jack into the Noösphere" exhibition held in the Japanese Garden at night as part of Chiba City's first art festival "Chiba City Festival of Arts.” It depicts the development of technology to purify the air in a future where air pollution from microplastics is increasing and wearing masks is becoming a necessity even in daily life.
During the exhibition, actual environmental changes are sensed by sensors. After the exhibition, the observation stations are set up in Chiba City (Makuhari New City) near the exhibition site for long-term observation.
